Project Description
Problem Statement Hebron is a large Governorate in the Palestinian Territories that suffers from lack of transparency and citizens of Hebron do not have confidence when dealing with the municipalities’ bids and contracts process. This is due mainly to the lack of knowledge in the contracts and bids law of both the citizens and municipality workers. Irada conducted a related study in Hebron Province that includes Hebron city, Halhoul city, Yata city, Samou city and Tafouh city, which showed a lack of satisfaction by the citizens of these cities, in the municipalities’ performance and services and general mismanagement of public funds.
This project will train 20 of the community individuals (males and females) on the rule of law in Hebron Province. This project will also raise the awareness of the citizens and the decision makers in Hebron Province about the importance of their role in monitoring the 2 quality of the municipal contracts and bids to maintain the public money. This includes their contribution in activating a website for monitoring. This website will be the first reference in Palestinian Territories that deals with the laws of municipal contracts and bids.
Objective The first objective of the project is to raise awareness on the rule of law among municipality employees and to build the capacity of 20 individuals in the local community of Hebron Governorate. In addition, the project aims to establish a website for citizens to use as a reference guide in the Palestinian Territories for municipal contracts and bids.
